Sept. 15, 2007.   RSCDS Toronto 50th Anniversary Gala Day

The RSCDS Toronto Scottish Country Dance Association is celebrating its 50th Anniversary from September 2007 to April 2008. We extend a very warm welcome to the Montreal Branch to join us in the special events we are planning. The first of these will be a 50th Anniversary Gala Day on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at the Rameses Temple, 3100 Keele Street, Toronto.

Afternoon (1:00 pm): Social with tea and memorabilia.

Evening (7:00 pm): Dance with Bobby Brown and The Scottish Accent.

Cost: Afternoon $20; Evening $50 (includes afternoon social).

Sept. 19-30, 2007.   Dancing Tour in Scotland

(12-day trip, leaves Wed. Sep. 19) Departs Toronto, ON

Come dance with us in Scotland. Our fun and danced filled trip leaves September 19 from Toronto and returns September 30. Our formal dancing evenings are with the Skye group September 21, the Inverness group September 24 and a full Highland Ball in our honour September 29 in the Dundee area to a 15 piece Orchestra. We have a number of other special dancing treats in store as we tour. We only have a few places left, so don’t miss out.

Cost: $3,500.00 including air travel on Zoom, Coach transportation for the entire stay, 10 nights hotel accommodation, breakfast and dinner daily, the Skye dance, the Dundee Ball, The White Heather Ball (October 6 here in Whitby) and many other extras. (single cost for this trip is $4,000.00).

Scottish Country Dance Workshop with Ron Wallace, Fiona Miller & Keith Bark.
Music by Hanneke Cassel (fiddle) & Dave Wiesler (piano)

SCD Classes: There will be 3 classes offered on Saturday, 2 before lunch and 1 after.
Dancers will be divided into 3 levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. Sunday will feature a combined class in the morning and a teachers' class in the afternoon with Ron Wallace.

Music Class: There will be a music workshop with Hanneke & Dave.

Gala Dance: Saturday night, with music by Hanneke & Dave.

New location!!! We are no longer able to use Victoria Hall in Westmount, but we were fortunate to have found a church with a good floor and accommodating to our needs.

Directions to get there: From Hwy 20, take the Dorval Ave exit. Go south on Dorval Ave to Carson Ave, turn right and follow Carson to Brookhaven. Entrance is on Brookhaven, follow the short flight of stairs down to the hall. Parking is free on the street. See map.

The Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association, Montreal District, will be hosting a Benefit Night on Saturday, January 12th, 2008 in support of the 2497 Black Watch (RHR) Cadet Corps, at the Scottish Centre of Montreal.

The evening will include performances by the Pipes & Drums and Highland Dancers of the Black Watch Cadet Corps, as well as a Whisky Tasting. Later in the evening Scottish meat pies will be served.

Admission: $12 : All proceeds from this evening will be presented to the 2497 Black Watch (RHR) Cadet Corps.
